Uniconn Group Gym is put to Marathon Use
Brian Thomson, Sales Executive at the Uniconn Group will be donning his running shoes next year by taking part in one of the World Marathon Majors – the coveted London Marathon on Sunday 13th April. He is taking on the gruelling 26.2 mile run to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Training for the event is not easy, and Brian has had to implement a strict fitness regime to whip him self into shape in the hope of gaining a Personal Best (PB) completion time.
Brian comments, “Finding time to train around work and family is not easy, however with the new company gym I’ve managed to fit quick bursts of training around work. I’ll jump on the treadmill during my lunch break and get some serious miles in in the morning before I clock in. Of course, you need to train outside too, and I’ll usually do a long run on the weekend.”
The private company gym is open to all employees of the Uniconn Group and is part of a drive to promote staff health and well being. All the equipment is top of the range and includes two treadmills, a cross trainer and a multi gym to name a few.
Managing Director, David Clark comments, “We installed the gym earlier this year as I believe a healthy workforce is extremely important. Seeing employees utilise the gym facilities for such a great cause is definitely what it’s all about. Uniconn is behind Brian one hundred percent, and we will be rooting for him all the way to the finish line.”
Brian has set up a Just Giving page and is hoping to raise £2,000. You can read the story behind Brian’s chosen charity and sponsor him by following the link: www.justgiving.com/Brian-Thomson2013
